Advice · Collaboration

A healthy
collaboration.

A successful web project depends as much on the relationship as on the technology. Here is what a healthy collaboration with a freelancer or an agency looks like, and the signals that should alert you.

01, The essentials

A good project,
a good relationship.

Most projects that fail do so not for technical reasons, but human ones: a poorly scoped need, communication that breaks down, expectations that were never aligned. Trust and clarity matter as much as the code.

Whether you work with a freelancer or an agency, the same rules protect your project, your budget and your peace of mind. Here they are.

02, The fundamentals

What protects
your project.

01
Clear Scoping

Before you start: who your users are, which pages, what content, what budget, what deadlines. A well-scoped project has few nasty surprises; a vague one has many.

02
Regular Communication

Progress checkpoints, previews, a reachable point of contact. You should never go weeks without news or without seeing your project move forward concretely.

03
A Detailed Quote

What is included, what is not, the price, the deadlines: in black and white, before signing. A vague quote is an open door to extras and misunderstandings.

04
Ownership of Deliverables

The code, the content, the domain and the access must be yours. Working with someone should never mean depending on them forever.

03, Pitfalls to avoid

The signals
that warn.

01

No Contract
or Written Quote

A verbal agreement protects no one. Without a document, neither you nor the provider really know what was agreed. Always insist on something in writing, even for a small project.

02

Paying Everything
Upfront

Paying 100% before seeing anything strips you of all leverage. The healthy practice: a deposit at the start, the balance on delivery, sometimes an interim payment.

03

The Subscription
Trap

Beware of multi-year commitments at a few hundred euros a month for a site you do not own. A site is bought, it is not rented.

04

Not Having
the Access

If your provider registers the domain and hosting in their own name, you are at their mercy. Everything must be created in your name, with your access, from the start.

04, Our approach

Keeping you
in control.

Detailed quote, staged payments, accounts in your name, deliverables that belong to you: we work so that you keep control at every step. A good collaboration does not lock you in, it makes you autonomous. Our commitments are detailed in our FAQ.
